Summary: And here we have the final cinematic effort of the great late Ray Harryhausen. He couldn't have picked a better film, really. A fantastic re-telling of the tale of Perseus, and the many dangers he endured to save Greece.

History: In the land of Greece, the Gods have had to put up with not only their winged horses being killed by Calibos, the evil son of Thetis, but Zeus' new son Perseus being nearly killed by his own kingdom. After said kingdom is destroyed by the Kraken in retaliation, a string of events ends with a now deformed Calibos demanding that the entire kingdom of Joppa perish if princess Andromeda isn't sacrificed to the Kraken. In order to help everyone avert this cruel fate, Perseus must venture off to find the head of the Gorgon, Medusa, and defeat the Kraken.

Notable Kills: Medusa's stone gaze.

Final Fate: Perseus manages to kill the Dioskillos, decapitate Medusa, stab Calibos with a thrown sword, and turns the Kraken to crumbling stone with the Gorgon's head. He's rewarded by being immortalized in the cosmos as a constellation.

Powers/Abilities: Medusa can turn people to stone with a gaze, even if her head isn't attached. Her blood is also magical, either acting as molten acid or conjuring up massive scorpions.

Weakness: Anything conventional, though the Kraken can only be killed by magic.

Scariness Factor: 4-While guys like Pegasus are very trustworthy, the rest are nasty pieces of work. Calibos looks like a demon from Hell, Medusa has perhaps her scariest incarnation in any film, and the Kraken is literally Greece's answer to kaiju.

Trivia: -The original myth of Perseus had Pegasus emerge out of Medusa's blood to go elsewhere, while the Kraken was originally just a sea monster named Cetus.

-Calibos has never appeared in any Greek myth, as his character here was inspired by Caliban from Shakespeare's "The Tempest". Thetis' true son in the myths was the warrior Achilles.
